Community Services
Community Services Over the past ten years, San Diego Chapter has produced special event and golf fund raisers to support local community charitable organizations like Casa de Amparo and the Monarch School. Chapter members have also supported these efforts through personal services and contributions. The chapter is now assisting San Diego Youth and Community Services (SDYCS) and its worthy programs assisting homeless youth in San Diego. Saturday, June 19th Another step was taken to complete IFMA San Diego's hand on project on Saturday, June 19 from 8AM to 5PM. A team of Outreach for Humanity volunteers installed brand new carpet (donated by Re:Source Floors) at the Bridge Group Home in San Diego. Some of the volunteers were seasoned journeyman carpet installers, who generously donated their time & talent. Other volunteers were there to support as "helpers" with furniture moving and whatever it tookto leave the house with brand new flooring in one day!
The Bridge falls under the direction of San Diego Youth Services (SDYS) and provides short and long term group home placement to youth ages 12 to 17, most of whom are referred for placement by the San Diego County Departments of Juvenile Probation or Health and Human Services. The Bridge offers a safe and nurturing environment. It embraces each youth's physical, intellectual, spiritual, and emotional growth. The Bridge promotes personal empowerment while encouraging healthy interdependent relationships. |
